“Do you know I always wanted to be
a pirate?” I told him one night after we had watched Pirates of the Caribbean.
“Really?” he asked incredulously,
turning to look at me from his position on the couch.
“Yeah. It was a childhood dream of mine…still
is. But that’s the thing about life…you
never really get to live out your fantasies.
You can dream about sailing past world’s end, flying a blue box that’s
bigger on the inside, living in Camelot with a knight in shining armor, walking
through the doors of Narnia, playing quidditch with the twins, helping
Frodo…but you can never really reach those stars. There’s only one thing we can really hope for
in life; that’s true love. That’s all we
have to look for. But, then again, that
might just be as good as sailing Freedom.”
After a thoughtful pause, he said, “I
suppose you’re right.”
There was a smug smile on my face
as I took a sip of my drink. “Of course
I am, darling.”
